About Me
"A Freeway-Flyer".....that's who I am. You won't find this term in Wikipedia, primarily because it's local jargon. In any case, I am an adjunct (part-time) professor of Economics who, like many other adjunct instructors, travel from institute to institute teaching.....hence the reference to "freeway" a.k.a. in some parts of the country "turnpike", "expressway", etc. etc. Naturally, I aspire to land a full-time gig some day, in some wonderful institute, so I can shed the "freeway-flyer" moniker, but until that day arrives.............the road is my office.
If you've perused my resume, you will see that I haven't always been an economics instructor. In fact, teaching is rather new to me and quite frankly, I can't believe how much I enjoy it. I only wish I had started sooner.
In my past life, I've been and done all kinds of things that involved some aspect of economics. I've been an independent equities trader (something that I still perform, but not as much because of my teaching responsibilities), a forensic economist, an investment analyst for a private equity firm, an emerging markets analyst, a federal government employee and even an olive oil guru.
Some may say that my resume resembles a Jackson Pollock painting. I agree..........as busy as a Pollock painting may appear, it also expresses a new dimension of viewing art. Such are my work experiences.....they have provided me with many ways to express what I do now........that is, conveying or communicating economic principles to my students.
Of course, "about me" would not be complete if I failed to mention my family. I have been happily married for 9 years and have the most charming child ever.
Thanks for checking me out.............enjoy browsing!
